LaGrange (Firemens Way)

Welcome to Abilities First School at LaGrange, located at 24 Firemens Way in Poughkeepsie, NY! Our school serves students ages 5 through 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other related conditions. Students are referred to our program by their home school districts and receive our highly specialized academic and therapeutic services at no cost to families — with transportation provided.

Our dedicated team of NYS Certified Special Education Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and licensed clinicians work collaboratively to deliver individualized instruction guided by each student’s IEP. When needed, Speech Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Behavioral support are provided directly as part of the school day — all within state-of-the-art facilities. For students in their high school years, we also offer structured Transition Services to help prepare them for life, work, and adult services after graduation.
